It was unlikely for the 28-year-old to make it to the final roster of the Jets in 2023, as NFL teams usually have two to three quarterbacks on their 53-man roster.

It was highly anticipated that Aaron Rodgers and Zach Wilson would secure their spots on the team, while Streveler had to contend with tough competition from Tim Boyle.

Jets fans were captivated by the former South Dakota player’s toughness, grit, and clutch ability to lead his team to victories in the late stages of games last year.
Unfortunately, the magical feeling was absent during the preseason opener on Thursday, August 3rd against the Cleveland Browns.

Chris Streveler only managed to complete one of his seven passes, resulting in just nine passing yards. He had an average of 1.3 yards per attempt and unfortunately threw an interception to the Browns, which was the same number of passes he completed to his own team.

During the game, Chris Streveler not only performed poorly but also injured his thumb. Head coach Robert Saleh stated that Streveler’s hand landed on a Browns defender, but he believed that there were no fractures.
According to ESPN’s Rich Cimini, Streveler is unable to practice due to an injury, which led the team to make a different decision. Cimini referred to it as a challenging aspect of the business.
