Will Quarterback Colin Kaepernick play this season?
Civil Rights Activist and quarterback Colin Kaepernick is 35 years old. He has not appeared in the NFL since the 2016 season. As of now, he is staying in shape and still thinks he’s capable of playing quarterback at a high level. He just wants a chance to play in the NFL league.
Recently, Colin Kaepernick appeared in an interview with Sports Illustrated this week, he gave a clear message that Colin Kaepernick still thinks teams are reluctant to sign him due to “political bias” from his iconic national anthem protests during his playing days.
“I’ve heard a lot of excuses over the years,” Kaepernick says, “but most of the time it ends up, ‘Oh, we’re going to see how the guys that we have do.’ With the Raiders’ situation last year, that was Stidham and Nick Mullens, which to me, you just compare résumés and capabilities, on top of the workout and the feedback, it’s like, ‘O.K., cool.’
“Obviously, there’s something else within this decision. To me, that’s typically what it ends up being, or has been for the last seven years. So, I just want the opportunity to come in and show what I can do on the field. Judge me based upon that, not the political bias that you have.”
Colin Kaepernick was drafted by the San Francisco 49ers in the second round of the 2011 NFL Draft. He played in a total of six seasons for the San Francisco 49ers. He earned two times WAC Offensive Player of the Year in 2008 and 2010.
Colin Kaepernick also sets the record for the Most rushing yards(181) by a quarterback in a game. He also has the record for the Most rushing yards(264) by a quarterback in a postseason.
However, it will be interesting to see whether or not Kaepernick does get another opportunity.
