Patriots Jack Jones pleaded not guilty to his crimes
A blow for the New England Patriots as defensive back Jack Jones could face up to 30 years in prison. He was arrested at the Logan Airport security checkpoint with two loaded guns in his carry-on bag.
Jones pleaded not guilty Tuesday to nine counts of weapons violations during his interrogation.
Following his arrest, Jones was charged with a long list of charges, including illegal possession of a loaded firearm, carrying a loaded firearm, possession of a large capacity magazine, and possession of ammunition without a firearm identification card.
He was also charged with breaching airport security.
According to his attorney, Rosemary Scapicchio, Jones was released on $30,000 cash bail pending a probable cause hearing on August 18.
"Can the Patriots handle this from a PR standpoint?… I think they think he's a 1st-round talent they stole in the 4th round."

Scapicchio said that Jack Jones had been cooperative and respectful throughout the process, fuming over media reports that portrayed him as a “thug” and compared him to “other people”.
“He had no intention of bringing any guns onto an airport that day,” his lawyer, Rosemary C. Scapicchio said.
“All Mr. Jones wants to do is play football and support his family, he doesn’t want to be a distraction at all,” she further said. “How he’s been portrayed in some of the media is not even remotely borne out. He’s not a thug, he’s not a wannabe gang member. The comparisons to other people are unwarranted and unfair.”
There has been no response from the New England Patriots so far and it is not clear what discipline he will face from the team.

Jack Jones was drafted by the Patriots in the fourth round of last year’s draft. He played in 13 games last season and recorded 30 total tackles, two interceptions and one touchdown.
This is not the first time that Jones has been arrested and taken to court. During his college days in 2018, He was kicked off from the Southern California football team after two seasons due to academic issues.
