The 49ers added a veteran quarterback, Brandon Allen to the starting lineup.
The San Francisco 49ers have a lot of questions for starting quarterback in the 2023 NFL season, and they added another freshman option to their squad on Monday.
As per the Athletic’s David Lombardi, 49ers general manager John Lynch expects Bruck Purdy to resume throwing 12 weeks post-elbow surgery, which would be in early June. When the QB starts throwing, the team will then have more clarity as to what the future holds.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the team 49ers signed a new veteran quarterback Brandon Allen, who previously spends his last three seasons with the Cincinnati Bengals as the backup quarterback for Joe Burrow.
The NFL world reacted to the 49ers’ move on social media.
The 49ers QB room gets even more competitive… wow! a fan replied.
Brock Purdy returning from injury is gonna leave at least 2 other QBs on the roster without a job (Lance and Allen), another fan replied.
Damn they literally is saying they don’t give a F about lance. And that window with Brock is slowly starting to shut with each day he’s on the injury list.. Darnold will end up the QB and Brock goes back to the backup and lance is probably gone, a fan said.
BREAKING: they are already crying about losing to the Eagles in the playoffs, another fan said.
Brandon Allen are u serious he ain’t been shit since Arkansas, they should of signed cam to teach trey lance when he take his job back, another fan replied.
If Purdy didn’t get hurt it would have been a different game…..What if the roles were reversed? a fan replied to Nathan H.
“The 49ers signing an easy upgrade over Sam Darnold,” tweeted Kevin Tompkins.
As it stands, Sam Darnold is expected to be the Week 1 starter if Brock Purdy does not recover from off-season elbow surgery.
