Chief’s quarterback Patrick Mahomes’ expected new “mega deal” blows fans’ minds!

Patrick Mahomes, Kansas City’s dominant quarterback, has established himself over the past few years as the most valuable player in the entire NFL. But currently, he is not compensated as such. However, it looks like that’s about to change.

The Kansas City Chiefs and Patrick Mahomes are expected to come to a deal before the start of the 2023 NFL season that would make Mahomes the highest-paid player in history, according to a report by league insider Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk. This deal will overtake Jalen Hurts and Lamar Jackson.

Patrick Mahomes new deal

Florio said that “based on our conversations with folks aware of the dynamics of the situation” fans should expect that deal to happen sooner than later.

“Expect Mahomes, before the season begins, to once again be the highest-paid player in league history,” Florio wrote. “The details will be interesting, and subject to differing interpretations. Because Mahomes has nine years left on his current contract, a new-money APY in excess of $52 million per year would be obtained simply by taking three years and a penny more than $156 million on the back end of the existing deal.”

This is kinda crazy news, especially considering that the Chiefs haven’t publicly committed to renegotiating Mahomes’ contract. However, the NFL world had a lot of mixed reactions about it on Twitter.

Looks like the Chiefs and Patrick Mahomes will redo his deal. Don’t blame him for wanting to revisit it – Lamar Jackson makes $7M more per year, Sarah replied.

Mahomes should be highest paid! 2 Super Bowl Champions, 5 straight AFC title games! He is the player you have to slow down if you want to win, Maria said.

Remember when so much of Chiefs Twitter was like “Pat won’t ever ask for a pay raise because he doesn’t care about money and wants to win!” LMAO. Sometimes y’all make me feel like a cynic but really I’m just not ignorant, a tweet read.

How did you somehow include Brady into the article? You’re obsessed. He’s done. He’s not coming back. Move on, Davis MK replied.

It will be quite interesting to see what the mega deal looks like when it is eventually finalized.
